    Black Powder Bacon Shoot

    This Saturday, September 13th, t 10am, Rain or Shine, the SCCSFA Black Powder Committee in conjunction with the Brandywine Muzzle Loading Long Rifles Club will hold their annual "Bring Home the Bacon Shoot" on the 50-Yard Range.

    Even if you 've never shot a Black Powder Rifle, come out for the fellowship and excitement in the Black Powder sport. There's a good chance you'll be back for another one of the monthly events. Always check the Club calendar for future events.

    The shoot details are as follows:

    Matches:

    ● Patched Round Ball /Conical Bullets /Minis and Iron Sights

    ● Flint / Percussion / In-Lines

    ● Handicaps Will Be In Effect

    ● Eye and Ear Protection Required!

    Targets8 targets, 5 rounds per target.

    Fees:

    ● $10 BLR and/or SCCS&FA members

    ● $15 Non-Members

    ● Youth under 12 are free

    Prizes: 1st thru 3th place. Did I mention Bacon?

    The SCCSFA Will Be Holding Its Annual Field Day On Saturday, September 27, 2025.

    2025 FIELD DAY ACTIVITIES

    AND EVENTS WILL INCLUDE:

         Free Hot Dogs, Snacks, Drinks, Cotton Candy, Popcorn, Door Prizes, Military Vehicle Display in Parking Area, Blue Grass Music Outside of Clubhouse, Firearms Displays in the Clubhouse, Flea Market in the Clubhouse, Archery Activity in the Indoor Archery Range or on the New Outdoor 75 Yard Range, Camping Display in Back of the Clubhouse, Pistol Shooting Activity in the 15 Yard Shooting Shed, Youth Shooting Program Activity in the 25 Yard Shooting Shed, Black Powder Shooting Activity on the 50 Yard Shooting Range, Rifle Shooting Activity on the 75 Yard Shooting Range, Cowboy Action Shooting Activity on the 100 Yard Shooting Range and Trap Shooting Activity in the Manual Trap Shed.

         Members and visitors get the chance to fire REAL firearms at No Cost!  Learn some gun safety while you are here.  Free safety glasses and hearing protection will be distributed.

    Members, Member’s Guests and the Public are Welcomed

         Please sign up for this event as soon as possible so that the Field Day Committee can prepare  for the number of visitors.  If you would like to have a table or two to sell items in our Flea Market or to set up a firearms or sports-related display, just email us at President@SCCSFA.org and we will reserve the number of tables that you need.  Displays can be firearms, sports-related subjects or organizational/non-profit tables.  A limited number of commercial tables will be issued. Any firearms related items may be sold except firearms themselves.  The more displays and flea market tables we have, the more interest to our members and visitors.  Members and RSO’s to assist on Field Day are very much invited to volunteer.  If you would like to volunteer, email us at President@SCCAFA.org.  Please participate by attending and helping to make this Field Day the best one ever.

    NRA Basic Pistol

    $160 for Members

    $180 for Non-Members

    Clubhouse Meeting Room (08:00-13:00; 16:00-17:00) AND Range (13:00-16:00)

    MIN/MAX STUDENTS: Min 4; Max 20

    DESCRIPTION:

    We cover both revolvers and semi-auto pistols addressing safe handling, shooting techniques, cleaning/basic maintenance, selecting ammunition, and storage. The course is open to individuals starting at 16 years old. Note: Parent of a student under 21 must accompany their young adult the entire time while on SCCS&F property. This class is open to members and guests.

    The course is the first step to integrate students into the broader shooting community, encouraging ongoing participation in club events like Cowboy Action Shooting and USPSA.

    Certification Requirements:

    • Passing a written exam with 90% score
    • Participate in all live fire exercises on the range demonstrating learned skills
    • Complete the shooting qualification of 5 shots inside a 4-inch circle four times

    Students Should Bring:

    • A positive and teachable attitude
    • Driver’s License
    • Lunch, drinks (No Alcohol) and snacks
    • Eyes and Ears Protect (if you have them)
    • Pistol and Ammunition
      • Option 1: Bring a pistol that you have experience shooting and in safe working order.   You will need 150 rounds of ammunition, factory loaded, for your firearms.
      • Option 2: Instructor has a few 22 LR pistols available. There is a nominal fee to rent a pistol and purchase ammunition from the instructor separate from course fee accommodates those without access to suitable firearms.  You must make arrangements with the instructor BEFORE signing up for the course.

    What to wear on the Range:

    Clothing for movement and bending, long pants, closed-toe shoes, long sleeve shirt and baseball hat, eye, ear protection.

      NOTE: If you need to cancel the class, please follow the instructions you are provided with your registration.


      Cancellation Policy (11/2022):

      SCCSFA is committed to providing high quality training and events to all its members. We recognize that on occasions participants will register for an event and subsequently find that they are unable to attend. 

       In these situations, we ask that participants notify the organizer of their need to cancel a training or event as soon as possible via email. 

       Similarly, the SCCSFA education committee will, on occasion, find it necessary to cancel an event. When this need arises, we are committed to taking positive steps to alert you to the cancellation as soon as possible. 

       Should a participant who has registered for an event need to cancel: 

      • Please send cancellation details to the event organizer by email or by telephone.
      • Notification up to two weeks prior to an event will provide a full refund.
      • Notification of cancellation less than two weeks prior to an event will result in a service fee of 25% plus credit card processing fee If the opening in the event is not filled from the wait list.
      • If you have registered for an event or training and do not attend without notifying the organizer of your cancellation the full fee will be payable and non-refundable.
